The Seaside Farmers Market saw a gigantic upswing in traffic last year because of its new location in the parking lot of Broadway Middle School, at Broadway and U.S. Highway 101. The market hours are 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays, June 21 and through Sept. 27.
“It was amazing for us,” says Grace Smith, Recreation & Community Programs manager for Sunset Empire Park and Recreation District. Angi Wildt is the market manager.
“We are right on the highway and that doubled our attendance,” Smith says of the 2016 market that attracted more than 600 people a week. The number of vendors increased from 10 to 15, and this year, sees an even bigger jump to 25 or 30 vendors.
Along with fresh produce and honey, the market will also have goat cheese, organic tea, a bonsai tree vendor, some crafts and two food wagons.
“More people are preparing their own food, and offering fresh produce is a great way to get out into the community,” Smith says. – by Sue Cody
